Phil Gordon emboldened by WaPO Op/ED?

A little national exposure goes a long way with Phil Gordon, boy-mayor of Phoenix. Now, Phil wants the World (his world, as mayor to the world – take that Giuliani!) So, now our Mayor Gordon wants to embaress the people of Phoenix in front of the whole country.. Good grief!

Gordon criticizes Sheriff Joe’s illegal immigrant sweeps as “heavy handed and abusive.” He asks the United States media to come to Phoenix “like you did for Don Bolles; come to Phoenix and stop this madness.” For those who are unaware of the Don Bolles reference. Mr. Bolles was a juornalist who was working a story and was to meet with an informant.

The incident sparked an investigation in the months that followed, known as the Arizona Project, with Bob Greene assuming the head and drawing nearly 40 reporters and editors from 23 newspapers including The Milwaukee Journal and Newsday. Note: The Bob Greene who led the Don Bolles investigation was not the Bob Greene from the Chicago Tribune. He was Robert W. Greene, of Newsday. Link to Bolles article on Wikipedia

With that as background you can see that the Mayor Gordon issue is light years from the Bolles issue. Gordon denigrates the name of Mr. Bolles with such a comparison. This mayor is unbelievable in his unwavering support for the illegal alien. You are probably thinking about Gordon’s promise the Phoenix police would be allowed to call ICE if they needed to. Hmmmm!

Quote from the Tucson Citizen (link), “He (Arpaio) has become the false messiah,” Gordon said. “But when the light is shined on him, people will see that he isn’t helping to fight illegal immigration, and he’s just making the situation worse. You’ve got an individual with a badge and a gun who’s breaking the law and abusing his authority.”

Phil is losing his grip. The recall effort must be leaving a mark. BTW, http://www.recallmayorgordon,com the Recall Mayor Gordon petitions still need signatures.
