Governor Bobby Jindahl blasts the US Supreme Court

What do you do when the highest court in the land will not allow a State to follow its laws. After all we are a Union of States each of which has sovereignty except as that sovereignty is subservient to the Constitution of the United States. Over the last decades the Usurping States Supreme Court has been abrogating that authority of each sovereign state and by diminishing the parts has weakened the whole.

A recent ruling overturning the death penalty in the case of child rape has Governor Bobby Jindal hopping mad. See story here. Jindal said, “One thing is clear: the five members of the Court who issued the opinion do not share the same ‘standards of decency’ as the people of Louisiana. One Justice said that ‘the death penalty is not a proportional punishment for the rape of a child.’” Senators McCain and Obama issued separate statements disagreeing with the Court’s majority opinion.

Here is my favorite bit of judicial reasoning: ”

“The Court provides two reasons for this sweeping conclusion: First, the Court claims to have identified ‘a national consensus’ that the death penalty is never acceptable for the rape of a child; second, the Court concludes, based on its ‘independent judgment,’ that imposing the death penalty for child rape is inconsistent with ‘the evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society.’” Read in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Can you spell Progressive bias?At least in this case these Jurists did not reference evolving European standards to my knowledge.  What would the Supreme have us evolve from? Should we lay down our clubs and shields and quit dragging random women off to our caves to do with as we please? “Evolving standards”? I know that phrase is in the Constitution somewhere…help me find, dear reader. Show me where it is…
